Sometimes the vanity, floor and layout are fine, and the shower is the only thing holding the bathroom back. Shower replacement is a focused project that brings an older shower up to date and makes sure it's watertight for years to come.
When replacement makes sense
- The tile is dated, loose or cracked
- Grout keeps discoloring or crumbling
- You see stains, soft drywall or peeling paint near the shower
- The glass door is cloudy, leaking or hard to operate
- The water temperature jumps when someone uses water elsewhere
A shower rebuilt properly
We take the shower back to the studs, check for any water damage and correct it. Then we install a new base, a continuous waterproofing system on the walls, and your chosen tile or panels. This is also the ideal time to update the valve, add a handheld wand or rain head, and replace an old framed door with frameless glass.
Smart upgrades while the walls are open
- Recessed niches to replace corner caddies
- Blocking for future grab bars
- A thermostatic valve with separate volume control
- A bench or foot ledge for shaving
- Improved lighting rated for wet locations
Shower Replacement: common questions
Can you match the existing bathroom tile?
Sometimes, but many older tiles are no longer made. We often recommend a complementary tile that ties the shower to the rest of the room instead.
Is there any way to just regrout?
If the tile is sound and there's no water damage, regrouting may be enough. If water has gotten behind the tile, replacement is the reliable fix. We'll give you an honest assessment.
